The £5.4 million refurbishment programme is to be provided by Wates Living Space Maintenance, on behalf of Sheffield Council. The plans also include a commitment to offer employment and training opportunities for Sheffield people, with a city-based supply chain of suppliers and subcontractors. Coun Jayne Dunn, cabinet member for housing, said: “We’re investing in our council homes to make sure they are safe, secure and warm. “We’re also making them more energy efficient to save people money – as well as being better for the environment. “This work will be a boost for our homes and for the area, as it will create jobs and apprenticeship opportunities. “I look forward to seeing the results which are part of our £300million investment plans into council homes.” John Flower, the Business Director of Wates Living Space Maintenance North, said: “We have a fantastic team in place, primed and ready to ensure the successful delivery of the council’s multi-million pound revamp.”
