TWO schoolgirls have been reunited with their families after a bizarre abduction which ended when their kidnappers dozed off and let them escape.
Police say the girls, from Balby, were not harmed in any way, but they are keen to track down the two men who bundled them into a car on Sandford Road. The girls, aged 14 and 15, were driven to an unknown house in Bradford but managed to escape in th
e early hours of the next day when the men fell asleep.
They are believed to have wandered round the streets of Bradford for several hours to make sure they were not followed before hailing a taxi and being taken to the railway station.
Doncaster police are making inquiries in Bradford to trace the address and are hoping taxi drivers will provide them with clues.
They are also trying to trace witnesses who saw them being forced into a black hatchback car sometime between 10 and 10.30pm on Thursday, July 31, on Sandford Road in Balby.
The girls have told detectives they realised road signs were leading to Bradford.
Det Sgt Kev Britton, of Doncaster CID, said today: "There is no suggestion the girls were assaulted in any way after being taken in the car. The girls were allegedly taken to an unknown address in the Bradford area and left the address when the opportunity arose.
"They seem fine now but were a little bit shook up. Although they were offered a drink by the men, nothing was forced on them and they were not forced to do anything they didn't want to do. They left by a door when the men fell asleep."
Officers want to trace the two men. One was Asian, 21 or 22, 5ft 4in, slim, wearing a brown top, jeans and red/orange trainers. The other was black, 18 or 19, 6ft tall, skinny build, wearing blue top, jeans, black trainers.
