A BUS driver was taken to hospital with suspected back injuries after her vehicle smashed into a line of parked cars in South Yorkshire.
The incident, on Aughton Road, Swallownest, left a trail of destruction with some cars smashed and mangled and others shoved up onto the grass verge.
Fire crews sped to the scene and used specialist cutting equipment to free the female driver after she was left trapped inside her bus - the number 25 to Rotherham via Swallownest.
They split the First vehicle into several sections to carry out the rescue. One shocked resident today told The Star the bus had written off three parked cars and damaged a van. There were no passengers
John Dixon, from Aughton Road, said: "She shoved three cars into my pal's van. We didn't see it but we came out afterwards and saw all the damage.Some of the cars had their boots and bonnets crushed and wheels had fallen off."
Mr Dixon said a street light on part of the road had been out of action since Christmas.
He said residents had reported the matter to the council but were still waiting for it to be repaired.
