The average woman shopper will cover just over two miles on one trip - and burn off 200 calories.
Shopaholics who splash the cash five times a month manage a tally of 10.1 miles - or 121.2 miles in a year. In calorie terms, that means we walk off 43 Mars Bars and 65 packets of crisps as we cruise those malls.
Who says? Why, the Golden Mile shopping centre in Warrington, who carried out a study. A canny lot. What better way for a shopping centre to beat the credit crunch than by telling a load of women that spending money on new clothes is good for them?
